Sustainability meets timber in this Amsterdam house

November 6 2012

Amsterdam is a city that oozes creativity through culture, music and architecture. An explample is this timber frame family home by Egeon Architecten. Open spaces, private areas in the middle and an office space on top, that sums it up.

Besides the beauty of the architecture, the creatives also thought about sustainability by implementing a heat pump and low temperature underfloor heating, natural ventilation, high insulation values of roof walls and floor, special heat-resistant glass, a sedum roof, attention to thermal bridging details and orientation. Lots and lots of things to lower the environmental impact of the house.
